FAQs

Q: Why should I use Tattaloo ™ aftercare products?

A: Tattaloo ™ has carefully selected prime ingredients for all their products ensuring that they are free of fragrance, lanolin, parabens, and petroleum. This helps your tattoo breathe and heal effectively.

Q: Were any animals harmed or tested on in the manufacturing or development of Tattaloo ™ products?

A: No, Tattaloo ™ takes pride in knowing all products are certified cruelty free and vegan. Tattaloo ™ is a PETA Certified and proud member of PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies Program.

Q: What are my first aftercare steps?

A: Before you leave the tattoo shop, your artist will bandage your tattoo. Leave this on for 1-4 hours (or as directed by your artist). Please do not clean your tattoo for the first time, or anytime, in a germ-filled place. Carefully remove the bandage. You will see some blood, plasma (the clear stuff), and ink. This is normal. Wash your hands very well with soap and water. We recommend using Tattaloo ™ Gentle Cleanse Foam Soap. Wet your tattoo with lukewarm water to remove residue. Do not expose your tattoo to a direct stream of water. Gently massage soap onto your tattoo then thoroughly rinse. Air dry, or lightly pat with a clean paper towel. DO NOT use cloth towels to dry. They are known to hold bacteria. After tattoo and surrounding skin is completely dry, apply a thin layer of Tattaloo ™ Mango Oleo moisturizing lotion.

Q: How often do I clean and moisturize my tattoo?

A: Clean with Tattaloo ™ Gentle Cleanse Foam Soap twice a day (or a time or two more if you got a little sweaty during the day) and apply Tattaloo ™ Mango Oleo Aftercare Lotion 3-4 times a day for 2-4 weeks. Do not over saturate your tattoo. We recommend continuous use of Mango Oleo to keep your tattoo vibrant and moisturized.

Q: Why is fragrance-free and petroleum free so important when it comes to tattoo aftercare?

A: Tattoos are tiny abrasions to your skin. Adding anything with a fragrance could irritate your skin. Using natural products while healing will provide your skin the needed benefits in a shorter amount of time. Petroleum is too thick and will not allow your tattoo to breathe as well as it should.

Q: Should I avoid anything while healing?

A: Do not soak in a bath, pool, hot tub, pond, lake, ocean or any kind of water. Do not overexpose your tattoo to direct sun! Did you know that UV Rays are used as a tattoo removal process? When your tattoo is completely healed, use sunblock every time your ink could see the sun. This will help keep it looking fresh longer! Do not wear tight-fitting clothing. The material rubbing your skin will irritate your tattoo. Do not shave your new tattoo until it is completely healed.

Q: My skin is flaking and scabbing! What do I do?

A: This is normal. It is ok for the skin to flake and scab. Do not pick, pull, scratch, or scrub it. After gently washing your tattoo, gently apply a thin layer of Tattaloo ™ Mango Oleo moisturizing lotion over it. If you apply too much lotion, the scabs can come off too early, leading to inconsistent lines or discoloration or blotches. If your tattoo is very red and inflamed or oozing, contact your doctor.

Q: I have sensitive skin. Can I still use these products?

A: Tattaloo ™ takes pride in using ingredients that work for all skin types. Our products allow your tattoo and skin to breathe while reducing redness and discomfort. Always read the ingredients before use. If irritation occurs, reduce use. If the issue persists, discontinue use or contact your doctor or professional tattoo artist.
